Treaties

What it all means

Treaties

  • Peace Accord (PA) – acknowledges goodwill; used to put an end to open hostilities and allows trade to resume.
  • Armistice (ARM) - This brings an immediate end to fighting and allows the creation of a peace. Armistices are only good for one turn. If peace is not declared and agreed upon, war will resume.
  • Non-Aggression Pact (NAP) – mutual recognition of the territory of another House (if you attempt a Military Action that requires passage through their territory, it will not result in battle but will instead nullify the Military Action without conflict.
  • Trade Union (TU) – required to GRANT Assets to any other power, this allows players to form trade deals. Each Power will –start- with a trade union in place with the Spacers Guild and the Central Bank. This union will not be reflected in this list.
  • Affiliation Treaty (AT) – acts as a Trade Union and allows another Power to send Military Assets into/through your territory without conflict, enabling them to attack enemies on the other side of your territory.
  • Alliance (ALL) – acts as an Affiliation Treaty; generally assists the allied House with Actions; also denotes “voting” solidarity at the Central Court. This is a powerful treaty and obligates the parties to defense and political unity. Not to be undertaken lightly.
  • Technological Research Alliance (TRA) – This acts as a trade union, but allows the passage of technology between the two powers.
  • Vassalage (VASS) – acts like an Alliance but creates a client relationship with another power; the client House surrenders control of their voting power to the ruling power. This treaty includes all other treaties for the vassal to the liege lord, but does -not- stipulate they are returned.
  • War Declaration (WAR) – This is a formal declaration of war. While you can attack anyone you like, if you do not declare war first, your trustworthiness will go down and other nation-states will likely think twice before dealing with you.
